Beatriz Lima

Beatriz graduated in Law, has a Masters in Law and is a lawyer, working on IP since 2010. Since then, she has acquired extensive experience in assisting clients in the various fields of intellectual property and activities.

She was a Managing Associate at Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA), where she worked between 2010 and 2024.

She co-founded NLP in 2024.

She has handled important and complex cases of patent litigation in various areas (e.g. pharmaceuticals, telecommunications), and also utility models, trademarks and designs, in various forums.

Law degree from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2008).

Studied during 1 semester at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain, under the Erasmus program.

Masters in “Law in a European and Global Context” from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Lisbon (2009). Studied an additional semester at Fordham University in New York (2009).

Master's thesis on "The scope of professional secrecy in the context of investigations into suspected anti-competitive behaviour”.

Summer trainee at PLMJ (2008).

Worked at Vieira de Almeida & Associados (VdA) between 2010 and 2024, first in the area of telecommunications, media and information technologies (in 2010) and then in intellectual property (from 2010 to 2024), an area she was a managing associate between 2023 and 2024.

Handled important patent litigation cases in various fields (e.g. pharmaceuticals, telecommunications) and in various forums: in the context of court and arbitration proceedings for infringement of industrial property rights (including damages claims), in nullity and/or cancellation proceedings regarding these rights, in administrative proceedings with various scopes. 

In 2024 she co-founded NLP.

Author of several articles and publications on intellectual property.

Recognised by The Legal 500 (Key Lawyer in intellectual property in 2023 and 2024), by the Managing IP- IP Stars (Rising Star 2023, 2024/2025), by Managing IP as part of the “EU cross border team Novartis Fingolimod matter” (2023) and by IAM Patent (2024).

Member of the Portuguese Bar Association.

Representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
