Cláudia Freixinho Serrano joins NLP

 NLP has announced the integration of Cláudia Freixinho Serrano into its team. Recognized for her work in pharmaceutical patent litigation,  joins NLP in the role of counsel.

NLP has just announced that Cláudia Freixinho Serrano has joined the firm. The lawyer, recognised for her work in pharmaceutical patent litigation, joins from PCA Advogados, where she practised for the last 13 years. Cláudia Freixinho Serrano joins NLP as Counsel.

‘Joining NLP is a step I take with great enthusiasm. Belonging to a team with these characteristics - innovative, confident and highly talented - is a unique opportunity,’ confesses Cláudia Freixinho Serrano. She adds: ‘Over the last few years I've been working on truly challenging projects and with clients. To be able to continue this work in a young firm with a unique position within the Portuguese legal profession, which constantly challenges itself in search of the best solutions for its clients, is a real privilege.’ Cláudia Freixinho Serrano concludes by saying: ‘I am grateful to NLP and to the clients who work with me for their trust’.

Cláudia also has a lot of experience in the transactional side of intellectual property matters, having advised major Portuguese companies throughout her career, known for their investment in innovation. In this sense, her integration naturally strengthens our capabilities and offer to clients in both the litigation and transactional areas.’

 

Cláudia Freixinho Serrano began her career in litigation in 2003. Over the last few years she has specialised in intellectual property litigation, providing legal and strategic advice in all areas of intellectual property and participating in important litigation, particularly in patent matters. A large part of her practice has been devoted to complex pharmaceutical patent cases, having defended exclusive rights to innovative medicines.

Cláudia Freixinho Serrano has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. She has a postgraduate degree in Corporate Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and a postgraduate degree and postgraduate course in Intellectual Property Law and Medicines Law, respectively, from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He also has a degree in European Patent Law and a university diploma in ‘Patent Litigation in Europe’, both from CEIPI - Centre for International Intellectual Property Studies.

She is an Official Industrial Property Agent and regularly participates as a speaker at conferences on intellectual property issues. She teaches courses in Civil Procedural Law and Intellectual Property and has written several articles on intellectual property.

She is Secretary General of the Portuguese Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).

The work she has been doing in recent years has led to her being honoured in several international directories, namely the IAM Patents 1000 (2020 - 2024) and Managing IP (as a notable practitioner, 2020 - 2024).
